Time and again I am flabberghasted at the extent of stupidity in the world

I am often reminded of Frank Zappa’s quote that there is more stupidity in the world than there is hydrogen (and that it also has a longer shelf-life).

Today, after writing a bit about “listening” yesterday, I woke up to a message in my RSS reader which read: “Follow this link to get your free copy of our ebook.” (the bold text was a link).

I will not shame this company by giving their identity, brand name or whatever. What is more: I suspect this is not the first time you have seen such a pitch, either. Yet in this day and age I find it mind-boggling that there are still people out there who are this stupid. Think about it: These people are creating a list or morons who are too dull to figure out that they are paying (by giving away their contact details) in exchange for the right to be marketed to. This is the equivalent of paying for a long-distance phone call to an outbound telemarketing department, asking them to pitch you their newest dubious scheme.

LMAO!! :D
