Why isn’t 100% Unemployment the Goal for an Advanced Industrial Economy?

Imagine solar-powered robots could do everything needed in an economy with no adverse effects to the environment. If that were possible, then I don’t understand why it would be good to employ people. I have actually wondered for several years already why employment is an economic goal at all. I see no reason why slavery by the hour is any better than long-term slavery.
